Eligible recipients must be within an academic year of graduation. Students must be in the age range of 18-40 and enrolled in an eligible institution or eligible for readmission to the institution with an overall grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale).
First Generation Preference
Special consideration will be given to students who will be the first to receive a degree in his or her immediate family. Applicants must demonstrate past and present service to the community.
One-time scholarships of $1,750 to a student attending a 4-year institution (paid in two installments of $875) and $750 to a student attending a community college will be awarded annually. Recipients will be determined by a Selection Committee located in Detroit, Michigan.
The Selection Committee will be comprised of four individuals that are not Board members and a designated Board member. The Board will be responsible for the distribution of informational materials, finalizing the scholarship application, and any other organizational or procedural activities related to the delivering and maintaining the integrity of the scholarships.
