Awarded scholarships will be provided for tuition, living allowances, transportation, books and media supplies, or any eligible purpose that is causally related to the successful completion of a post-secondary program.
Eligible recipients include 18-40 year old students that identify as Black or African-American and are within an academic year of graduation. Students must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution or eligible for readmission to the institution with an overall grade point average of 2.5 or above (4.0 scale).
First Generation/Service Preferences
Special consideration will be given to students who will be the first to receive a post-secondary degree in his or her immediate family or demonstrate either past or present service to the community.
One-time scholarship of $1,750 to a student attending a 4-year institution (paid in two installments of $875) and $750 to a student attending a community college will be awarded annually.
The Selection Committee will be comprised of four individuals that are not Board members and a designated Board member. The Board will be responsible for the distribution of informational materials, finalizing the scholarship application, and any other organizational or procedural activities related to the delivering and maintaining the integrity of the scholarships.
